Today we would like to introduce you to another global partner with Northridge Beyond: Compassion International.
Compassion International's mission is to release children from poverty in Jesus' name. They do this by committing first to Christ (their programs are shaped by this spiritual commitment), second to the children (providing holistic care for each child), and third to the church (they partner with local churches around the world to administer their programs).
Holistic child development means they begin, in some cases, with prenatal care and go all the way through leadership development for qualified young adults. It means they take a long-term approach to what they do and go beyond simple involvement in the lives of the children and families they serve.
Through Northridge's partnership, around 245 children were sponsored at two sites in the nation of Honduras in Central America. The two sites are in the Choluteca region of southern Honduras (see it on the map HERE).
Today, would you please pray...
- for the nation of Honduras and for the work of Compassion serving 48,200 children at 200 sites. (You can read more specifics about Compassion's work in Honduras HERE)
- for each child in a Compassion program. Pray that they would find the hope found only in Christ, while also growing and learning so that some day they might be free of poverty.
- for the relationships being built between Northridge attendees and their sponsored children. Pray that this would be a two-way relationship: that the children would be encouraged through their sponsor's words, but also that sponsors would be encouraged in their own spiritual journeys through the responses of the child.
Thanks for praying!
